Some Targa Cars

Targa is a Car Race on the Island of Tasmania. It's held in late April and finishes in early May.
Most car can enter as long as specifications are approved. Roll bars and so on.
The Race is held in stages in various areas of Tasmania.
Last year and this year a Tasmanian won the Race..

I took a few photos from a street view well after the race was over...

The classic Volvo in the last shot is my favourite. Where we lived in France had a classic car rally every autumn and we enjoyed going for a look at some of our favourite cars.

A bit like those old Redex (??) round Australia rallies of years ago.
I think it was called Redex???
I remember the cars going through Moree when I was a kid - all very exciting.
All cars were absolutely filthy from the mud and dust - certainly not like your
clean looking cars as shown - ha ha.
Somebody I think called "Murray" was the champion driver of the day???
Had some funny "nickname" ???
Cheers
Colin
PS: The sun is shinning here - at last!

I suspect that this event is very popular with the boys and the men.

Wow, I like that car the best. Classic!

For the men and boys it's fun. I'm not into car racing :)

That's nice then. Here all the cars are located in Launceston for a few night so the public can view them up close.

whiteangel said...

Thanks Gwen...and they are brightly painted.

whiteangel said...

Yes, they flash by when in the race but was good to see the cars stationary.

whiteangel said...

Oh I don't recall that.
Oh great, the sun is shinning, still shinning here, tried to rain the other night but wasn't much.

whiteangel said...

Oh yes it is Rosemary. Many of the other sex come from several States of Australia to participate.

whiteangel said...

Yes, Jo-Anne, they are awesome.

whiteangel said...

They are nice....all of them, it's a pity I couldn't get a photo of many more.

Hi, I came from Linda's blog. The most eye-catching is the first car.

Some creative paintwork on these cars.

I love the colours and designs.

The Redex rallies did occur - I checked it on "Wiki".
Is quite interesting with all the details etc.
Hope by now you have had some rain - thankfully has disappeared
up here - BUT for how long????
Cheers

Hello Nancy.
Fantastic paint work, looks very effective.

whiteangel said...

That's for sure and on many of them that I didn't get a photo of.

whiteangel said...

They are lovely.

whiteangel said...

Oh ok. I will check it out as well.
Yes, it rained yesterday with strong winds but ok here in Launceston in my area.
You can only keep your fingers crossed up your way because you have had enough rain to last for a long time.....well unless the farmers differ with me.
